Great Photos Printing, through Color Management
by Thomas G. Brown
Abstract :
Your photographs look good on your camera's LCD. They look even better on your computer monitor after your work on them in Photoshop. But, when you try to print your photos, on an inkjet printer, the color does not look quite right. In fact sometimes it is horrible! If this is your situation, this overview will help you understand how color management can lead to better looking digital prints. Topics to be covered include: 1) What is color management anyway? 2) Matching papers, printer and inks and 3) Acquiring ICC profiles, and 4) Configuring Photoshop CS2 to use Color Management.

Linux on Laptops
by Jimi Mikusi, Information Architects, iKONG LLC
Abstract :
Despite the decreasing buzz about GNU/Linux taking over the desktop, it still proves to be an effective end-user operating system. But even less common is finding GNU/Linux on laptop computers. What contributes to this factor is a lack of cohesiveness among GNU/Linux distributions in what should and shouldn't work out of the box. The speaker feels that the education of end-users (marketing) is the key. It took hours of research to find all the utilities to bring his laptop to life. He has consolidated his findings, and will present all the utilities that can make GNU/Linux act just like a factory installed OS.
Bio :
Jimi Mikusi is a veteran netizen with over 15 years experience ranging from CGI developer, Systems/Network Administrator, Security Administrator, Java Developer, and Embedded Systems Programmer. He runs an Information Architecture Consultant business, helping small businesses find creative ways to facilitate the flow and distribution of data to their users.
