An Introduction to Microsoft Office 2007
David Soll, Omicron Consulting

Abstract :

Microsoft's Office 2007 is the first compelling upgrade to the Office product since Office 95. Though Office 2007 was released with Windows Vista, it does not require Vista to run. This new version of Office sports a new user interface, new features, and new file formats. In this talk, David Soll will explain and demonstrate Office 2007 and show the ease at which documents, spreadsheets, and presentations can be made. Included in the demonstration will be Word 2007, Excel 2007, PowerPoint 2007, and Outlook 2007.

Bio :

David Soll is the Vice President of Advanced Technology for Omicron Consulting. He has worked with computer technologies from hardware design, network design, operating system development, through application development and architecture design for more than 25 years. David is a Senior Member of the Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers (IEEE) and is also the Vice Chair of the Princeton Chapter of the IEEE Computer Society and serves on the TCF Steering Committee. David received his BS in Electrical Engineering from Drexel University.

Second Life, its Horse-and-buggy era. Of course it's Web 2.0, whatever that is. Second life, The Next Generation. The Virtual Holodeck. WYSWYG comes to computer graphics. How does it impact global warming? Virutal marketing, real products. New networking and the old question about Internet Isolation. VoIP visiting, LOD Land, Second Language, and other terms to drop on the news media. And now for something completely different.

Bio :

Retired Professor of Psychology at Texas Christian University. Selby courses in psychological measurement, computer applications, and systematic problem-solving. Hr did research in pattern perception, and studies of cognitive systems. He was supported by U. S. Military organizations, NASA, National Institutes of Health, and other government organizations. He has written more than 80 technical papers, professional books and journals. Selby operated a consulting business for 25 years, serving companies and government agencies in psychological measurement, problem-solving, cognitive engineering, and computer applications.

Abstract :

What Second Life is, what it is currently used for, current functionality, extension of functionality through scripting and modification to the open source client, and the potential future of Second Life.

Bio :

Eric Marsh is a 22 year old programmer from Arlington Virginia and currently a senior at George Mason University in Fairfax Virginia. He recently started a company to extend the functionality of Second Life, and create services for other companies and users.

Abstract :

The continuing advances in Home Video Games are not slowing down. We will demonstrate and compare the latest hardware systems and the latest games that bring out the best features of each system.

Bio :

Roger has been involved with programming video games since 1990, and still keeps up with all of the latest technology involved. He also enjoys playing video games! He was one of the "Pioneers" during the early days of personal computers. He invented the "Z80" board for the Altair computer as well as many other products.

Eva Kaplan, Pennington Computer School/Computers + Kids Camp

Abstract :

Eva's past presentations on "Best Web Sites" has been incredible, but her "Best Web sites 2007" is awesome! She is continually researching for new, creative, definitive, well designed, interactive top sites among the myriads of resources in the myriads of categories. TCF attendees have come to depend upon her yearly guide for up-to-date places in cyberspace and for search engines that exceed Google in many ways. Her guide will only be distributed to seminar attendees or those who contact her after April 30 at evalkaplan@cs.com.

Bio :

Eva is founder and director of Computers + Kids which has been providing Princeton Area youth exciting and enriching experiences with computers and technology for 25 years. She is a member of the New York Academy of Sciences and included in Who's Who in Science and Engineering. She is a supporter of the National Engineers Week's Future City Competition, Philadelphia Region, and is a longtime judge for Mercer Science and Engineering Club's Science and Engineering Fair.
