"Bioinformatics Workshop" Interdisciplinary Activities Workshop for the High School Classroom: Biology, Chemistry, Computer Science, and Mathematics

Abstract :

This workshop will involve 4 sections, each focusing on how to integrate the topics of biology, chemistry, computer science and math in the High School classroom. Each section will be conducted in a "hands-on" format, so that high school teachers will come away from the workshop with several usable activities to help them integrate topics in their own classroom.

Bio :

James Dyer is an assistant professor in the Chemistry and Biochemistry Department at Montclair State University (MSU). He has experience teaching high school chemistry and physics and has taught at MSU for 8 years.

Katherine Herbert is an assistant professor in the MSU Computer Science Department. Her expertise is in Bioinformatics.
